New 24-Hour Toll-Free Number Provides Faster and Easier Access to CAPA’s Complaint Program

Washington, D.C. – The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) has revised and expanded its complaint program by establishing a toll-free number for registering complaints at 800-505-CAPA (2272) which is available 24 hours a day. In addition, industry members can file complaints online at, or by faxing or mailing in a CAPA Complaint Form.

In order for a part to become certified by CAPA, it must be validated through CAPA’s independent, third-party testing facility to determine that it meets all CAPA standards for fit, material content form and finish. The complaint program gives consumers, collision repairers, part distributors, insurance adjusters and other users an easy means of informing CAPA about quality concerns with CAPA certified parts. CAPA’s main focus is insuring that certified parts meet the needs of collision repairers and consumers. The complaint program insures that repairer concerns about part quality are registered. “Incorporating repairer concerns into the standards and inspection process continues to be a key factor in CAPA’s ability to insure parts that meet repairer needs,” said Jack Gillis, CAPA Executive Director. “The toll-free number makes it easier for them to contact us.”

When a user contacts the toll free line, a CAPA staff member or operator will record all applicable complaint information and initiate the CAPA complaint investigation. As always, once the complaint investigation is completed, CAPA will contact the complainant and notify them of the action taken in response to their complaint.

In the past, many repairers have indicated that completing and registering complaints is time consuming. The new toll-free number will significantly reduce the amount of time required to file a complaint and hopefully increase the feedback CAPA receives on its parts.

The Certified Automotive Parts Association, founded in 1987, is the nation’s only independent, non-profit, third party crash parts quality certification organization. CAPA certification identifies, for both consumers and the industry, those parts that meet our high quality standards for fit, form, finish, material content and corrosion resistance.
